Ic,, is the concentration (pg of protein/ml) producing 50% inhibition of the biosynthesis of each prostaglandin as measured by the radiochemical method described in the text. Human serum (freeze-dried) and plure plasma albumin (Cohn fraction V) were obtained from Miles Laboratories. Haptoglobin was purified from Cohn fraction IV-4 to 76% purity by the method of Saeed et al. (1980). NT, not tested. Results are means ? S.E.M.
